Quatrième de couverture

« Mummy, where do chickens come from ? »
Fear this question no more !

Everything from the way to eat a sea urchin to how gherkins are made is demystified and stunningly illustrated in this readaloud selection of whimsical questions and answers about food. Written by a food critic and illustrated by a food artist, this stylized and unexpected approach to food facts makes even the least appetizing items interesting. The result is a playful celebration of the things we eat . . . and don't eat !

Biographie

Joshua David Stein is an author and journalist whose work has appeared in The New York Times, Esquire, Eater and others. He is also the restaurant critic at the New York Observer. Though he eats well for a living, there is nothing Joshua loves to eat more than leftovers with his two small sons.

Julia Rothman creates illustrations and pattern designs for newspapers, magazines, wallpaper, dishware, posters, bedding, journals, temporary tattoos and billboards. She has authored and/or illustrated seven books, many of which incorporate food in some way. She lives and works from her studio in Brooklyn, New York, where she eats lots of sushi lunches and snacks on cashews by the handful.
