Quatrième de couverture

Vendée

The theme park Le Puy du Fou, Les Sables-d'Olonne, the Vendee Globe race, the sea and its coastlines : there is so much more about Vendee. This department has a lot more to offer with its diversified landscapes, singular history and strong identity. From the Haut-Bocage to the coastline, from the Marais breton to the Marais poitevin, the author takes us to the most important sites but also to unknown, even out of the ordinary, places. You will go on the footsteps of the monks who shaped the Marais poitevin, on the birth and death places of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Clemenceau, and even of Barbe Bleue and Richelieu.

Along the way, this book offers a real cultural journey through the department, in order to understand and love Vendée !

Biographie

Gilbert Métivier spent most of its private and professional lives in Vendee. He can be forgiven for he was born in Chemillé (in the department of Anjou) and for he has lived its two first decades in the Mauges, in military Vendée !
He was first teacher in the Maisons familiales French institution, then technician in land development and. for a longer time, journalist. During all of his experiences, he traveled all around the natural regions of Vendee. His job as editor in chief of La Vendee agricole (23 years) and of the magazine Racines (12 years) obviously helped him discover and love Vendee, for the greatest pleasure of his readers. He now lives in Génétouze.
