Hétérotopies

Réalisé dans le cadre de l'exposition "Xn00" à l'Espace des Arts de Chalon-sur-Saône, cet ouvrage réunit l'ensemble des projets d'artistes produits pour la manifestation et une anthologie bilingue d'essais sur la question de l'espace. Les œuvres de Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Fabrice Gygi, Richard Hoeck, Klat, M/M, Daniel Roth et Xavier Veilhan rencontrent ainsi des textes de Vito Acconci, Beatriz Colomina, Michel de Certeau, Oyvind Fahlström, Michel Foucault, Jean-Charles Masséra, Mary McLeod et Robert Morris. Il s'agit en effet de provoquer des croisements entre deux séries indépendantes - sept projets spécifiques dans le contexte de l'art contemporain et huit textes de philosophes, artistes, théoriciennes de l'architecture et essayiste - autour de problématiques de politiques spatiales de représentation et d'identité, du public et du privé, de l'espace de l'art et de la culture, de la mémoire des lieux et de l'inscription du souvenir, ou des rapports entre utopies, hétérotopies et le réel. Et, finalement, de confronter art et théorie à leur capacité réciproque de donner du monde une lecture critique.

Conceived for the occasion of "Xn00," an exhibition at the Espace des Arts of Chalon-sur-Saône, this book brings together all the artists' projects produced for the show and a bilingual anthology of essays on the question of space. Works by Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Fabrice Gygi, Richard Hoeck, Klat, M/M, Daniel Roth and Xavier Veilhan thus encounter texts by Vito Acconci, Beatriz Colomina, Michel de Certeau, Oyvind Fahlström, Michel Foucault, Jean-Charles Masséra, Mary McLeod and Robert Morris. The aim here is in fact to generate a crossover between two independent series-seven specific projects within the field of contemporary art and eight texts by philosophers, artists, architecture theorists, and a critic-around issues such as spatial politics of representation and identity, the public and the private, the space of art and culture, the memory of places and the inscription of remembrance, and the relations between utopias, heterotopias and the real. Hence to interrogating art and theory's reciprocal ability to offer critical perspectives on our everyday environment.
