James Martin est membre du corps professorat permanent au sein du département Illustration du Ringling College of Art and Design à Sarasota, en Floride. Tout au long de sa carrière, il n'a jamais cessé d'enseigner et de parfaire son art du dessin. Après avoir débuté sa carrière comme story-boarder et dessinateur d'affiches de films auprès de Neal Adams, légende du comics américain, il a travaillé pendant plus de vingt ans pour les studios d'animation de Walt Disney et DreamWorks, ainsi que pour Spike Lee, Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Mattel, Paramount, Universal et Marvel Comics. Il a notamment oeuvré sur Le bossu de Notre-Dame, Hercule, Tarzan, La planète au trésor, Violences sur la ville, Shrek 4, Le chat potté et Dragons 1 et 2.

James Martin is currently a faculty member in the Illustration Department at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Throughout his career, he has continued his commitment to teaching and working on his own art. He has worked for clients like Spike Lee, Steven Spielberg, Mattel, Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures and Marvel Comics, as well as commissions from directors James Cameron and Jean-Pierre Jeunet. For over twenty years he has worked as a background pointer, Visual development artist, texture and matte pointer for Walt Disney Feature Animation and DreamWorks Animation, working on such films as The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Tarzan, Treasure Planet, Over the Hedge, Shrek 4, Puss in Boots and How to Train Your Dragon I and II.
