Né à New York il y a cinquante et un ans, installé depuis trente ans à Paris, l'enfant du Bronx est à ce jour l'un des street artists les plus célèbres au monde. Star de la télévision et de la presse, idole des galeries et du public, son travail le rapproche de l'action painting et des grands maîtres de l'abstraction américaine. En accueillant l'exposition JonOne - Above and below au Carré Sainte-Anne, la Ville de Montpellier invite un artiste qui transcende la limite entre street art et art contemporain et poursuit ainsi son investigation sur la frontière désormais ténue entre ces deux disciplines.
Born in New York fifty-one years ago, living in Paris for the last thirty years, this kid from the Bronx is one of the most famous street artists in the world. Admired by the public as well as galleries, his work, featured on TV and in newspapers, is close to action painting and the work of American abstraction masters. By hosting the exhibition JonOne - Above and below at the Carré Sainte-Anne, the City of Montpellier invites an artist who transcends the border between street art and contemporary art and thus goes further in the investigation on the now faint line between those two disciplines.
