This bilingual work explores questions relating to the production, distribution and reception of books in English and French-speaking countries. It proposes a unique variety of viewpoints, ranging from scholarly essays by academics working in different countries and fields, to articles by book professionals such as writers and publishers. Through these different perspectives, it offers a reflection on the status of the book, its history and its future, at a moment when the very survival of the medium in its present form is the subject of much debate.
