Quatrième de couverture
According to Barbara Rose, curator of Painting After Postmodernism I Belgium-USA, the artists in this exhibition strive to restore tactility to painting, redefine drawing as part of the pictorial, and go beyond Postmodernism using new techniques and materials to retrieve the fullness of painting as a major art that can hold its own with the masterpieces of the past.
Barbara Rose was educated at Smith College and at the Université Paris-Sorbonne, and holds a Ph.D. in Art History from Columbia University. She was Regents Professor at University of California, San Diego. She has also taught at Yale University, Sarah Lawrence College, University of California, Irvine, American University, and the Università di Torino. She is a member of the Accademia di Belle Arti Pietro Vanucci in Perugia and the Association Internationale des critiques d'art.
