En commençant son travail sur l'enfance au Cambodge, Laurence Leblanc se pose une question difficile: comment tous ces enfants peuvent-ils vivre avec le poids de la mémoire et les traces quotidiennes des massacres? Elle choisit de se confronter aux gestes de l'enfance, de comprendre et de reconstruire, à travers la photographie, la réalité de ce pays où l'incompréhension du passé, les cauchemars, les traces de l'horreur sont omniprésents.
Laurence Leblanc ne témoigne pas, elle interprète. Les gestes peuvent être joyeux et les jeux des enfants se chargent, dans ses images, de tension et de souffrance. Son récit crée un monde onirique douloureux habité par de petits fantômes innocents qui semblent vouloir émerger, se libérer d'un cauchemar.

Conseiller artistique 2003 de la Fondation CCF pour la Photographie
La Fondation CCF pour la Photographie, créée en avril 1995 sous l'égide de la Fondation de France, s'est engagée à accompagner chaque année la promotion et la valorisation des travaux de deux photographes.
Ces artistes travaillent sur des représentations du réel, sans exclusive de mode de traitement ou d'approche, de nationalité ou d'âge. Au moment de la sélection, ils ne disposent pas encore d'un ouvrage monographique présentant leur travail.
La Fondation soutient ses lauréats en organisant l'exposition de leurs oeuvres à Paris et dans plusieurs régions. Elle conseille le CCF qui acquiert certaines de leurs oeuvres pour enrichir sa propre collection. Elle coédite avec Actes Sud un ouvrage monographique de leur travail. Par son action, la Fondation CCF pour la Photographie souhaite contribuer à la reconnaissance de nouveaux artistes.

Laurence Leblanc began her work on the conditions of childhood in Cambodia by asking a difficult question: how do all these children live with the terrible memories and daily traces of so many massacres? She decided to confront the gestures of childhood, to use photography to understand and reconstruct the reality of this country where the incomprehension of the past, nightmares and evidence of great horrors are omnipresent.
Laurence Leblanc does not testify, she interprets. The gestures she portrays are sometimes joyful and the children's games in the pictures are full of tension and suffering. Her account creates a painful yet dreamlike world inhabited by tiny, innocent phantoms which seem to want to emerge and break free from a nightmare.

Artistic advisor 2003 for the Fondation CCF pour la Photographie
The Fondation CCF pour la Photographie, created in April 1995 under the auspices of the Fondation de France, has committed itself to the annual support and promotion of two photographers.
These artists work on representations of reality without any restrictions as to treatment or approach, nationality or age. At the time of the selection, they have not yet had a monograph presenting their work.
The Fondation supports its prize-winners by organizing an exhibition of their work in Paris and several regions of France, by advising the CCF in order to enrich its own collection through the acquisition of some of the winner's works and by co-publishing with Actes Sud a monograph of their work. Each year, the Fondation CCF pour la Photographie thus enriches its collection by two new books.
Through this program, the Fondation CCF pour la Photographie endeavors to contribute to the recognition of new artists.
