Biographie

Professor of Geography at the Université Lyon 3 and founder in 1995 of the « Centres d'Etudes Alpines », Henri Rougier has been a regular visitor to Zermatt for over half a century, and is eager to share his passion for the little « land » that is a world unto itself, as well as an incomparable laboratory for the discipline he teaches. Bearing witness to considerable changes, but also to an enduring respect for nature, the author invites you on a journey of discovery to what he holds to be the most accomplished example of land use planning in a high mountain region.
